The village, as always, enjoyed Rev’d Prebendary Peter Bowers Christmas Church Services. The wonderful Christmas Eve Christingle nativity play was performed by the children in the village, and directed by Saskia Verton-Smith.
The Jack Russell Inn organised the Boxing Day events and a fantastic New Years Eve party. Lots of people from across the village met on the Square at midnight to welcome in the New Year. A big thank you to Paul (and the Jack Russell staff) and Sim for organising the events. The raffle raised £117 for the Jubilee Hall Improvement Scheme (prizes kindly donated by the Jack Russell Inn and Stuart Swanson) - well done to George Knill on winning the signed Liverpool shirt in the NY Eve raffle (it was great that it went to Liverpool’s no 1 fan). A further amount was collected in the bucket for the Armed Forces Help the Heroes Appeal. Gail Balment’s nephew is taking part in a sponsored run around Camp Bastian in Afghanistan wearing a 40lb pack in aid of the Appeal.
A big thank you to John & Barbara Ackland for organising the Swimbridge Star (and to the team who helped put it up and took it down) and to Mr & Mrs Booth for powering it again.
A special thank you to Swimbridge Post Office (staff and postmen/women) for sorting out all the extra post and parcels delivered to us leading up to the Christmas period—it was much appreciated by all of us.
