Successful grants for the hall

Swimbridge Jubilee Hall has just been awarded £11,000 for improvements.  £9,249 has been granted from The National Lottery Award for All programme for 150 new chairs, 8 chair stacking trolleys and a stage curtain track.  Once the new chairs have  arrived, the wooden chairs will be sold as part of the Hall’s contribution to the grant.  (The reason for the need for new chairs is that with today’s h&s policies the chairs must have the option of linking together for events.) On top of that grant we have also received £750 from The Elmgrant Trust towards a lighting desk and dimmer system and a further £1,000 from Devon Community Foundation towards external decorating - the good news is we received £1k, the bad news is that we asked for £4k, which means we have received enough funds for the resources but not  labour. We will be holding a community day shortly asking for volunteers to help paint the outside of the hall and replace some of the guttering.

The Hall Committee are of course still concentrating on raising funds for the new extension but as good practice we also need to ensure the existing hall is well maintained for the hall users.
