Park Update from Andy Comerford

As you can see from the advert for our “Parklife” Party Steph, Sarah and friends are working hard to get things together for the 1st May and it looks like being an exciting day.

Most of the work on the Park at the moment is behind the scenes legalese, policies, legislation and making sure the terms of the lease are adhered to. All necessary and vital to the success of the park. Hopefully it will get more exciting and “hands on” in the very near future and everybody will have opportunities to get stuck in.

Workshops will include wildlife boxes ... pruning workshops ... Spring watch... Night time moth and bat sessions... Astronomy star gaze “live” and much more. If you have any other suggestions or expertise which you would like to offer please don’t hesitate in contacting any one of the Parklands Committee.

The North Devon Council Executive has agreed to contribute £32,000 from contingency reserves towards the Swimbridge recreational area which is fantastic news.

The Parish Council and Swimbridge Parklands has raised a joint total of £23,500, bringing the overall total to £55,500.

In addition a grant application has been made to “People’s Millions” - fingers crossed.

It should be re-iterated that the Park is still not open for our use and may not be for a little while after the “Parklife” Party as the Parish Council must be certain it is a safe environment for all to use. Please don’t hesitate in contacting me (Andy Comerford) on 830774 or any of the Committee if you have any aspects you wish to discuss.

Be involved ... be excited... and be at the ‘Party’ on 1st May
