Swimbridge Church Streamside Garden News

Despite wet weather, work on the streamside garden has gone on apace. The new paths are in and the replacement railings are being installed and soon to be painted black. There will be five gates to make easy access to the Churchyard. Yves Clarke is making two fantastic benches using beech wood from a fallen tree in Chittlehampton. Paula Swanson has been supplying the workers with tea over her wall. Daffodil bulbs will be planted by children in October. Rev Peter Bowers also paid a surprise visit!

Wanted - Snow Warden

The Snow Warden scheme enables communities to come together to help each other on a voluntary basis during times of extreme weather and Devon County Council is pledging to provide up to five tonnes of salt free of charge to parishes that sign up to the scheme. Swimbridge Parish Council is in favour of the scheme and is hoping that a volunteer co-ordinator from within the parish will step forward to assume the role of Snow Warden. The warden acts as a poinas a point of contact during winter for Devon CC and needs to demonstrate that they have arrangements in place to store and manage salt.
